A slice of happiness

Happy Friday!

Newton’s Nook Designs is running an Inky Paws challenge # 11 , a fun and bright Color challenge and I’m definitely joining in.

I used the Sweet Summer stamp set and used the citrus slice as my main image. I colored the two slices with promarkers, fussy cut them and pop them up with dimensional.

For my card base, I stamped the slice randomly keeping the color scheme needed in the challenge. Noticed that I also stamped the small hearts in the yellow pattern paper? I used the heart from the same stamp set. Oh and I also did some background stamping of the slice in green paper, just because 🙂  The flag stamp is part of the Sweet Summer stamp set too.

Birthday card

I had the chance to sit today in my craft table so I did a card to join to in some card challenges.

I used Paper Smooches  Zoo Crew stamp set for my main image and I cut the giraffe using the coordinating die. For the birthday sentiment, I used Newton’s Nook birthday bash stamp set. I love the size of this particular birthday stamp sentiment as this fits perfectly with Simon Says Stamps banner die.

I’m entering this card to Freshly Made Sketches # 132.

New stamps

I got this new Newton’s Birthday Bash stamp set from Newton’s Nook blog win.

What will be the great way to use it than to make my take in their Inky Paws Challenge #8 – Sketch challenge.

I’m seeing a lot of colored pencil coloring with gamsol and I would like to try them myself. Sadly, there’s no gamsol available in Doha that I could find. I have looked at the biggest craft and arts shop locally but to no avail.

When I saw some amazing coloring with this technique (using gamsol) from Nichol Magouirk, I asked her what is the alternative for gamsol. She said she heard about baby oil but haven’t tried it herself.

Over the weekend. I did try using baby oil and it seems to blend too with the colored pencil grains. So in my card, I colored Newton  with colored pencils including the gift boxes.

I think the color seems pale and need to be darkened for some intensity. This is my first attempt to use this technique so a lot of improvement ahead right?

For the birthday sentiment, I followed the curved shape of the circle when I stamped. One good thing of using a clear stamp is the flexibility to manipulate the shape, curved, rounded or just straight.

For the hat, I stamped it in a patterned paper and fuzzy cut both my main image and the party hat. I just added a fun ribbon for the diagonal strip.
