Let’s be merry

This is the last card sketch for the month and for the year at Sketch N Scrap.

Its Sketch # 16 created by the talented Lisa Hidy.

I had fun working on SNS card sketches and I will definitely miss working with the team as I end my term this month too. Thanks SNS especially to Lisa and Kelly.

On to the card, the Santa Claus stamp is from Paper Smooches while the sentiment is from Ali Edwards. The papers are from Basic Grey.

For added fun, I put a little white pompom in Santa’s hat and colored him with promarkers.

’tis the Season

Whoa! The past week has been hectic. I’ll be traveling on Tuesday for a short holiday break with family back home in the Philippines and everyday seems not enough to get all things done before the trip. Already excited to be with the little munchkins 🙂

The blog may be on a short break too but I will soon get back to my weekly post once the holidays are over.

For now, I’m sharing another holiday card using decorative tape or also known as  washi tape. This card seems fit for a masculine card too isn’t it?

I used two washi designs and alternately use them to create horizontal strips. I embossed the sentiment and the Christmas tree using white embossing powder. The stars however were stamped directly in the card base.

This project is being shared too in the Pretty Paper Studio blog.  There’s still time to play in the monthly challenge so drop by at the PPS blog for more inspiration or better yet, join in for a chance to win.

Creating backgrounds

The month’s challenge at  Sarah Hurley challenge blog has begun. This month’s challenge is to Create your own background.

First up, I used the snowflakes from Sarah’s Christmas Characters stamp set and stamped a white ink over kraft to create my background. Santa and the Christmas sentiment are also from the same stamp set. To add some texture, I put a white pompom in Santa’s hat & sequins. I also used the banner and cane stamp from the Christmas Mail stamp set while the Merry sentiment is from Outline Alpha stamps.  Noticed the silver lines in the green background paper and above the gray paper? I also embossed them with silver embossing.

Jingle all the way

This week I was able to send out some more Christmas cards overseas and was happy I was able to managed it within the first week of December.  There are still some to be mailed in the coming week before I go on a short holiday break with family back in the Philippines so I hope all are received before the 25th.

For now, let me share the card I created for Sketch N Scrap, Card Sketch # 15. The sketch is another great one from Kelly.

I used the pretty red ribbons from my stash while the patterned papers are from Basic Gray, Aspen Frost collection. The small banners are from Pink Paislee which I also have in a while from my stash and the stamps from Ali Edwards.

Texture using embossing folders

I love adding texture to my cards. One way of doing this is by using embossing folders or in other times adding dimensions.

With embossing folders, you can get a deep impression of a design.

I have a limited folder in my stash but they are very handy in making general textured background.

This time I’m sharing a very pretty embossing folder called Ana Griffin’s Aviary embossing folder/border set, this I got from Pretty Paper Studio.

You can see more details of how I did the three cards in the Pretty Paper Studio blog.
